UPDATE: Broken Mirror III has ended! The Broken Mirror team would like to thank all the UTA Writers who submitted to this event. Follow us on Twitter @brokenmirroruta, where we’ll announce when the stories have been published. If you missed out on this event, don’t worry, there’s more Broken Mirror events coming up soon!

The Broken Mirror is a student-driven creative writing event hosted at the University of Texas at Arlington.
Participants write short stories inspired by a single prompt, inevitably leading to vastly different interpretations of the same idea. Like a broken mirror, the subject is the same, but reflected from different angles and perspectives.
We welcome stories from all genres: science fiction, fantasy, horror, and everything in between.
We also accept poems!
How it works
- A prompt is determined by the Broken Mirror team.
- Participants are given a one-month deadline to write a short story inspired by it.
- Participants submit short stories, which are then gently edited and showcased on this website.
- Remember, anyone affiliated with UTA may enter. That means students, alumni, faculty, and staff are eligible.
